There are 24 various gastronomic counties and 3 wine growing regions, we have our own springs of mineral waters and hundreds of microbreweries. Culinary experiences of Slovenia are closely connected with the natural elements of Slovenian landscape.

Walk with us through all 24 counties of Slovenian gastronomy and get to know some of the most famous signature dishes.

Wine growing regions of Slovenia

Our wines are not produced in large quantity, but for sure there is quality. We are very proud of our three wine growing regions and even more of some very special wines that are produced here: Cviček, Rebula, Zelen and Teran. In the past years the country is famous also for its production of orange wine that is worldwide known and appreciated.

Must try foods

We will provide you with a list of must-eat foods while you will be visiting Slovenia. Here are just a few: kranjska klobasa, belokranjska pogača, idrijski žlinkrofi, ajdovi krapi, zaseka, štrukelj, bograč, gibanica and potica. We know this sounds like science fiction now - but if you join us, you will know what we talk about.

Must try wines

There are a few wines that always end up in our wine cellars at home. They are drank at birthdays, for anniversaries or other special occasion. We will provide you with a list of these wines, some of them can be purchased also outside of our country.

Get to know our best chefs

The fame of Slovenian cuisine dates back to 2017 when Ana Roš was proclaimed the best female chef of the world. Even earlier she was one of the stars in Netflix series “Chef’s table”. She brought interest of journalists to our country and other chefs skyrocketed. But to be honest, we ate well even before 2017. We have our own personal favourites and we will let you know where to go when you come visit.
