Serene Alpine Lakes

France Prešeren Slovenia’s most famous poet wrote the following in his epic poem Baptism at the Savica:
“No Carniola has no prettier scene than this,
resembling Paradise serene.”

His inspiration is easy to understand when you visit Bled Castle and look at this “Paradise serene” from the same window as the poet did.

But beyond poetry this land is steeped in legends and fairytales. An area where a picture-perfect image of an Alpine pasture can still be found; an area where the beautiful nature and human resilience found a way to cooperate in a sustainable fashion.
